Irish Author Christopher Nolan Dead at 43

Christopher Nolan, who suffered from cerebral palsy due to being deprived of oxygen at birth, died at the Beaumont Hospital today in Dublin, Ireland. He was 43. He died, according to a statement issued by his family, "Following the ingestion of some food into his airways yesterday, oxygen deprivation returned to take the life it had damaged more than 40 years ago." Using a pointer attached to his head to write books, he published his first book, Damburst of Dreams, in 1981 at the age of 15. At aged 22 Nolan won the Whitbread Book of the Year in 1988 for his novel Under the Eye of the Clock. In 1999 he published his novel The Banyan Tree, which was published in the U.S. by the late Richard Seaver at Arcade.
